    There is a method to kill another process by setting the main window of another process as a child window of current app, destroy the parent window will cause the target process to exit.

    I will check it out.
    Do you perhaps know when Malware Defender version 2 will come out?
    Can you perhaps give us an idea?

    It's early of course, but so far so good. To play it safe, I backed up my latest config, uninstalled previous ver, then installed this latest. xiaolin, the network protection looks fabulous :thumb: I was expecting the most basic of protection; simple yes/no access, but this actually allows restriction to protocol-specific, remote ports & addresses. Very nice!

    Now I find out it's even possible to set a local port range in the application rule's edit and on the fly, too! xiaolin, you are the best :)

    The new beta is running sweet & stable.

    Network protection so soon!!! Xiaolin is a hard-working genius.

    MD's network protection is MUCH more granular/powerful than SSM's. Therefore, I decided to put MD into Learning mode for a few hours, while I exercise all of my usual applications. It is working really really good!

    As to cpu usage...

    +++On my computer, MD's cpu usage (at those times when nothing much is happening) is so low as to barely be measurable.

    +++When there is a lot of activity (installing new applications, or possible threats, or such), MD will peak as high as 12% to 15% cpu usage for VERY brief moments of time.

    +++MD's cumulative cpu usage in the past 4 hours since installing the new beta was ~37 seconds.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Bottom Line-- I am extremely satisfied (stoked!) with MD's performance. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
    This is really nitpicking, but is there any chance the Network protection will eventually detect ICMPs :) Otherwise terrific results running without a firewall.
    Is it Malware Defender compatible with Proactive Defense of Kaspersky Antivirus 2009 or is it better to turn off Proactive Defense?
    P.S. No problem with high CPU or RAM usage.
    MD cannot pass the ICMP test. I do not intend to make MD a full featured firewall. :)
    No problem xiaolin. It is not that important anyways and MD is, after all, primarily a HIPS. You've done an excellent job on this product, with the network protection feature, as I've already mentioned, offering more than I could have expected.
    Even more remarkeble considering the time difference with Xiaolin. He must be having red eyes of sleep. There was only few hours between reporting bug and fix
    Some one man band operations (SBIE, DW, MD) show they can excel on dedication, quality and user centered development
