Mail Security - Hits

    Hi, in Mail Security, in Server Protection / Rules, when you have a rule working it shows "hits".
    I have a rule which has been working less than a week and it's showing over 17,000 hits. Also another one showing over 13,000 hits.
    Can anyone tell me what these "hits" represent ? Surely it's not individual email messages o_O
