Hi taotoo, Up to reading your post I had only restored by using the boot menu WinPE option, not when running the Reflect app in Win7. Well I just tried to do this and (as you pointed out) it informed me that I cannot perform the restore because the volume was in use and that I would have to do the restore from the boot option or a recovery disk! Scott
Thanks for the confirmation Scott - I thought it might be unique to my system so was considering a clean install, but instead I'll now wait for a possible bug fix. edit: It looks like we're both using WinPE 10 - I wonder if that has a bearing on it.
That's certainly possible as I do recall performing a few restores with build 871 (I was using WinPE 3.1 at the time) from within the Reflect app in Windows without a problem!
I would suggest to both of you that you go through setting up the BOOT menu once again, selecting "No Menu." When that completes, set up your BOOT menu once again with whatever WinPE you'd like to use. Following that, a restore initiated from Reflect under LIVE WIndows should respond accordingly.
Thanks for the suggestion - I just tried re-adding WinPE 10 but unfortunately it didn't fix the issue. However changing to WinPE 3 did work. I didn't try WinPE 5, but presume that would have worked too.
My issue with delta indexes have been resolved. Response from Macrium Support The quote above has had some information removed from the original e-mail for one or another reason, this is marked by [Redacted] in the text. So I am now using delta indexes with no issues. I assume that a public update will be available soon(ish) but that's just a pure guess on my part. Oh also, superb support from Macrium. Case closed.
On the PC of a family member I can run the Windows 10 PE (on my own it does still not boot), but I notice 2 changes: - almost all UI text is in italics - in the Restore tab there is no longer an option to delete images Is this intended behavior?
That's a Microsoft "thing" when you use the WinPE 10 build, not a Reflect thing. That looks to be the case (It's missing in WinPE v5 Build 871 as well).
I have rebuilt my recovery USB stick and I got an update to the Windows PE files (I am using PE 10). The new build number is 879. Do I need to re-build my Recovery Boot Menu or is this taken care of automatically?
If you don't need any of the Build 879 fixes/features (see "Help/Release Notes" in your LIVE Reflect window), the answer is no. If you like to keep your whole system up to the latest version of everything, the answer is yes (it only takes a miute to re-run it anyway). ...and, no, its update is not taken care of automatically.
My goodness, this program has a lot of bug fix updates. Seems like these are occurring weekly if not more often.
Well after the latest update the windows 10 pe no longer works, same issue as before where it shows the windows logo & spinning dots but after the keyboard & mouse lights flash it just goes to a black screen & doesn't show the macrium interface.
I take it you mean the add to boot menu option in macrium? It's annoying as the win 10 pe didn't work with 871 then it did work with build 879 & now it's back to not working in build 886
New incident for me with v6.1.887: I have a scheduled GFS backup series and I see that my last incremental reports '0x06 Conflict' under the Last Result column. What's the appropriate actions for that event (should I delete that incremental, or what)?
I'm occasionally having long restores (and long backups to a lesser extent) that support has yet to figure out. They keep thinking hardware but when I ran AXTM it was always fast and I have no other symptoms of hardware problems. Anyway, my related concern is that I have no log files for image restores (after several restores). How can this be and why? I'm not sure they can figure this out without them. Thanks!
hi may i ask a question? winpe -> what does it mean "Check for unsupported devices as Rescue media loads." what i have found it only this may i know what does it mean? does the rescue cd check online and download drivers in case of unsupported devices ? does it warn about it? thanks
Macrium Reflect v6.1.909 Date 3rd November 2015 What's New 6.1.909 German language support for Macrium Reflect Free Edition For Windows installations using German locales a new option to install Macrium Reflect in the German language is now offered for Macrium Reflect Free Edition. To change the language for existing installations please press the keys Ctrl + Shift + L after updating. Reflect Network authentication settings copied to Windows PE Network authentication settings saved in 'Other Tasks' > 'Edit Defaults' > 'Network' are now copied to the Windows PE build. This enables easier access to images saved to authenticated network shares from Windows PE. Bug Fixes Rescue media driver issue The rescue media wizard could incorrectly detect selected 32/64bit PE type. This would then cause selection/auto-location of required drivers for PE to fail. This has been resolved. Image mounting The wrong incremental could be opened when mounting delta indexed incremental images. This has been resolved. PowerShell RoboCopy synchronization issue RoboCopy synchronization could fail if the source or target path had spaces in the folder name. This has been resolved. Windows PE 10 network share access A network share with no authentication could unnecessarily prompt for a user name and password. This has been resolved. If this issue affects you then please create fresh Windows PE rescue media after updating. http://updates.macrium.com/reflect/v6/v6.1.909/details6.1.909.htm
Various updates suggest replacing the old PE. How does one do that. Is it enough to click on the "no menu option", then click on the desired "PE option" or does one have to delete the entire Windows PE and download it again and rebuild the menu? Thanks.
It'sMee222, it really has to be rebuilt and that won't happen if you just select to uninstall/reinstall the Local Boot option. What I do (to be sure) is to use the "No menu" option in the Local BOOT area first. Then I go through the "Create a BOOTable Rescue Media" area... it's here where the new code is added tot he PE. If you have no other use for the created media, just do a CANCEL at the "Burn Rescue Media" window. Now that the new media has been assembled and is available, go back to the "Add a BOOT menu option" and re-install the local BOOT option. This has always worked for me...
