How much RAM do you recommend in order to use those 'desktop-enhancers' (so as not to experience any slowdown) over and above what's needed for good LInux performance?

 

Hello,

Nothing special. They run superbly at 512MB RAM - to say nothing of more. It's just themes. Nothing more. Panels are highly customizable in GNOME.

Regarding XP, you do get an extra process with a docker, but again, nothing special.

there's a way to make the top panel look and act like the mac panel too, i've never tried it though and i'm nopt sure where the best guide is.
