I've written a review of Lubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot, an Ubuntu edition with the LXDE desktop, including Wireless, Samba sharing, look & feel, installation in a dual-boot scheme with Windows 8, applications, multimedia playback - Flash, MP3, system stability, system resource usage, suspend & resume, and many problems like desktop environment crash on Samba refresh, unresizable windows, system tray icon problems, no laptop hotkeys, low battery life, bad visual integration, other glitches, and more. See, judge and decide.

Great review - I experimented with Lubuntu and it wasn't to my taste at all (although I'm a total distroslut and can't keep to one for very long).

Good review. Makes Lubuntu not an excitement adventure...
For me, specially, for the lack of configurability.
    Thanks for sharing it.

The irritating panel icon placement stuff described by Mrk. caused me to eventually decide that I will stick with what I have.
