I use this one (open source):

    http://www.antp.be/software/moviecatalog

It doesn't import movie thumbnails, but it downloads plot, actors, etc from IMDB as well as picture of the DVD cover. You can also drag and drop AVI/mkvs on it and it will automatically add characteristics.

Another that i haven't tried and is free, is this:

    http://www.eaxmc.com/

Which seems as idea as a spin-off from Ant Movie Catalogue.

There is also this one free:
    http://www.emdb.tk/

I 've tried it and it's good, but simpler.

I think there is also something paid which may show video thumbnails, but i don't remember its name. I prefer freeware. It's in download.com, that much i remember.

OP glad you brought this topic up as I have a similar issue. But my problem is that I have probably 200-300 flv and wm videos that are 3-10 minutes in length and downloaded off the net- mainly just music videos. I need to organize them somehow as they are spread across several folders on my computer. They're not movies, just short videos. So organizing will take some time.

i think your best shot would be windows live photo gallery, it does video with thumb.
if your movies are mkv, wich codec are you using?
