Is there anybody who know how to make rules for the application "32bit FTP" with LNS on the OS of Windows server 2003 sp1?

I'm not too sure but you could try a standard ftp ruleset (if there is one), surely they all do the same thing right?

    Thank you very much.

when I have added both the FTP server.rie and FTP client.rie that were downloaded from the looknstop site, the "32bit FTP" couldn't still go through the LNS.

then I try to remove all rules from label ---"internet filtering"--of the LNS, it is so surprised to me that the "32bit FTP" still could not connect to Internet!

Finally, I had to quit LNS, and the "32bit FTP" could connect to the Internet at this moment.!

Things is going so strange. Is there anybody who could help me ?

Did you try to configure and use the passive mode (PASV) ?
This solves FTP issues very often.

    Dear Frederic,

Maybe you are right, because some words such as " PASV " etc. are showing on the screen when i was logoning some FTP site by using the
    "32bit FTP".

but there is another problem that I don't know how to configue and use the passive mode (PASV), it is most acknowledgeable if you could tell me how to do that.

    BEST REGUARDS FOR YOU.

    Hi myownsky :)

1- Check in the application filter to be sure that "32bit FTP" is listed there.
(With no restrictions : everythings in green...)

2- In the internet filter use the Enhanced rule set provided with LNS
There is no special rule to create for Ftp in passive mode.

3- In the parameters of your application set the connexions to the passive mode (PASV) ...

Try one of these ftp servers to be sure that everythings is "OK":

    ftp.mozilla.org
    ftp.research.microsoft.com
    ftp.gnu.org
    ftp.demon.co.uk

    FAQ 32bit FTP:
    http://download1.electrasoft.com/faq/faqftp.htm

You can also try Filezilla... (Free...)
    http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/
    ;)

    Hope this help.
    :)
