    Hi,

I made everything wrong with my new sata 500GB HDD

I have 3 partitions on it (it was primary, primary and primary):

1st is Logical 50GB with system (it was primary but during reinstall of my vista i removed and recreated it and its Logical now. Vista system is on it.

2nd Pirmary 50 GB. data and boot files are on it. Its Primaty Active.

    3rd storage, Primary 300+ gb

generaly everything works ok but its pain for me to doing backup, i have to backup 1st and 2nd drive (vista do not allow me backup only 1st if boot files are on 2nd)

Im wonder if it is possible to use Advanced Options > Convert to convert:

    1st Logical > Primary Active
    2nd Primary > Logical
    3rd Primary > Logical

    without remove data ofc.

Then I will fix boot files to drive 1st - this part isnt problem for me

Im very sorry for my crap english,
    Greets,

    Karol

I think you should be able to use DD to convert the partitions to how you want.

I assume you're not using TI for backups. It lets you select the partition type when you restore and also lets you select just the partition(s) you want to backup.

I would recommend that you have a backup of your drive (you may already have one) before you make these changes so you can restore if necessary.

After the changes, you will need to fix Vista so it will boot. A Vitsta Boot "Repair" may or may not fix it. You may need to copy the Vista booting files manually. If you do, keep a copy of them on the old booting partition until you get the new one setup correctly. Make sure to set the Vista partition Active.
