I'm aware of the fact it's only half measure.
For now me like it as I can rest assured nothing is ruined by my amateur nature.

Yess, sir, I need the terminal - I can locate it, now I need the... string of magical words...please

    It's VMLite...

You haven't told whether it's the VM that needs resizing. Read my previous post - XP mode?

Well I suggest you go into XP mode 'cause that's what the web's saying to do. Handle that and you should be ;) gold.

i got a notion we're talkin at cross purposes here mate

why do I need XP mode... I would have to run win 7 PRO in the first place, whereas I am on HP.

for now I can settle for bronze ;)

Interesting fact... ppl on other forums also like to address me korb or korbs..

well, as already mentioned my internet connection is very slow...512kb/sec
    and I'm imaptient
that being said....a friend of mine is going to help me with this minor snag by downloading some more distros + xp mode and posting it. should be at my place by Monday/Tuesday.

In the meantime I'm helping my other friend with her laptop... so I'm pretty preoccupied.

as far as linux is concerned - I don't think I will ever switch from Windows BUT I seriously consider using linux for the sheer purpose of surfing the net.

DO you think it's a good idea?

    okay...so here's the thing

getting any linux distro to play videos coded with WMP is a real challenge or so it appears

MINT - can play, cannot view maximized
Sabayon, Super OS, PC LInux, Mepis - can play, but the videos are choppy
others - probably need some tweaks or sth but for a noobie it's a killer

USA still the best. But barely.
The 2 LiveCD that worked with my WiFi OOTB are OpenSUSE & PCLOS. I'd get those LiveCDs t'was me. Heads up though PCLOS is coming out with a new 2010 version soon.

Just tested PCOS2009.2a - seems outdated as far as apps are concerned but that doesn't bother me at all as the WMP clips are working!
yet.... same as in MINT - not choppy, which is nice...but cannot be viewed in full screen [no such option, clicking twice does nothing]

This might be a bit premature but....

Zorin looks like one heck of a distro for those who like things to be working just like that with a finger snap!

If you're a beginner - give it a try and you won't regret it

Simple Q: how to burn ubuntu.iso with Roxio Easy Media Creator?

Is it going to be bootable without my interaction or should I make changes to the default settings in the programme?

    + I've got x64 architecture so...

should I go with x32 nonetheless??

i have used both 32 bit and 64 bit not problem with both

its depends how much ram you have if you got ram 4 or 4+ go for 64 bit else go for 32 bit because 64 didnt help much

also there is option called 32 bit with PAE kernel (Physical Address Extension) which supports 4 gb plus memory

while 32 bit support till 3.5 gb memory

yes its true that 32 bit is pretty easy while in 64 bit sometimes you need special tweaks for some special software

my recommendation is if you are new to linux and have ram till 4 gb go for 32 bit or if you are looking for laptop where you want a stable 3 years rock solid distro again go for 32 bit
