That's good to know about the ThinkPads', mattbiernat, thanks!
I will just have to be my own customer support. :D

I do want a laptop that I can work on, fix, upgrade parts, etc.
not one with all the parts soldered down or impossible to change parts.
Which seems to be the case more and more.

Mabye some day a Mac, not today though. :)

True, but soldering RAM, SSD and even battery is a new trend. Still solid machines thou but a bit too expansive for me. One thing that apple certainly does better than thinkpads is their screen quality. On average any Mac has 10 times better screen than a thinkpad (unless you get lucky to get IPS).

    You are not alone:

    1) http://forum.thinkpads.com/ - great people willing to help fellow thinkpadders
    2) youtube - lots of videos how to fix anything in a thinkpad.

And as I said, replacing parts can be really easy. It takes 2 screws in my computer to gain access to RAM and hard drive. I also suggest that before you buy a thinkpad, you start a thread in #1 and ask fellow members which one would be the best one for you. It might help a lot. good luck.

I agree and I don't like the internal battery deal but still can be replaced by users but extra care or caution is needed. However,I am still getting 7 hours on a charge.:thumb: BTW I get this Macbook used and the original owner purchased New in 2010 and it looks and runs like new,a lucky find.
