Does this offer compression and encryption of the image? If so, with a 500GB drive (probably 400 GB full) how much space on a drive would I need for the image to be saved on?,

Does this have to use a winpe environment to restore or can it restore with a linux cd just fine.Im not using macrium reflect for this very reason as it would not recognise my external HDD in a linux environment.

O&O DiskImage has never used Linux boot media, only WinPE.

Latest version 7.x can create a 64-bit WinPE directly from the program installed in Windows x64, using WinRE.

Can this program do the same?

    Thanks.

Hi, the iso file that you download and burn to cd (about 300MB)is your restore disk. You can also install the program from this disk.hope this helps.

BTW the restore disk is PE2, built on vista if I'm not mistaken.

I've installed Diskimage via the provided link but cannot find anything resembling an ISO to burn the start cd.

Apparently, this version does not include that feature.
    Am I correct ?

The boot CD ISO is 292mb and burned perfectly using Ingburn @ 24x.

I tested it for system boot and it works.
As mentioned in an earlier post, it is Vista-based but booted my XP install with no problem- only that it seemed to take an unusually long time for the application to open.
That's probably due to my ancient Pentium 4 CPU.

As of now, I haven't made a test image. I will do so later today if time permits.

    Hi wt :)

I created an account with Laplink, and got my serial number, then downloaded the complete ISO. My problem is that when I booted from it it seemed fine and I got the control panel, applied the changes to my locale, and when I hit ok on the control panel, it gave me a license error?...then stopped and rebooted.

I have asked Laplink about this as it makes not sense, so far I have not heard back. There is no documentation regarding this problem, so I must have missed something, but I went through all the steps properly, got my serial number and downloaded the ISO, but it gives the license error and will not proceed. I see no way to actually include my serial number to the ISO. It makes no sense.

Any ideas of what I may have done wrong? I searched laplink, but nothing about this issue.

    Thank you!

    Jim

    Hi Jim,

That is another problem with O&O Disk Image. You cannot use the WinPE as boot menu, neither you can use it to burn it along with other WinPE. You have to have a dedicated CD/DVD or USB for it. This was my experience with v5 and v6 of O&O Disk Image. A very unfriendly program.

    Best regards,
