KDE speed boost ??

    I stumbled across this post in another forum. I won't be trying it as my speed is hunky dory, more interested to know whether anyone has gone this route and their findings.
     
  2. Worked on old (pre-4.7) versions of KDE with Intel GPUs. Not necessary with new versions or nVidia GPUs.

    Note that on some KDE versions this tweak will cause text to shift around in Konsole, and there may be other bugs I haven't found yet. Also note that it does nothing to mitigate slow KDE startup times on netbooks - the 30+ second startup is due largely to lack of parallelism in the KDE init process, and basically cannot be fixed (barring changes to the source code).
