The servers are probably busy with everyone trying it. I was able to activate as a beta (it likely won't activate retail keys).

That's good to know, though I guess it's not named Evo-Gen in Kaspersky's products :D
But it might be useful for "guest" to know the name that Kaspersky use for it? :doubt:

They don't have a name for it, it's just a part of their cloud backend, the Urgent Detection system.

There is obviously other stuff coming because they've already said in their forum announcement:

Right, well then at least guest know that they have a similar system in place at least, even though it doesn't officially have a name :D

Yes. EVO-gen was a good marketing by AVAST but nearly every vendor has:
    - automatic detection systems
    - parts of generic and heuristic signatures
    - pushes urgent detections via cloud

    nothing special at all ;-)

Better detection is good ,but others have the equivalent and Avast play catch up ,so wait for results

    Yes this is always good.
But the intention of the posts only was to show that other vendors have also such things, esp. KIS which is the topic here and thatswhy the question if they have such a thing is answered

Would love to see one feature in KAV/KIS, since it has been missing from all versions so far:

    IMPROVED CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

You can only activate official release versions with a commercial license, if you want to beta-test you can activate a beta or trial license during installation.

    Marketing gimmicks!?

Evo-gen is backend technology no marketing gimmicks and avast doesnt even sell their products with this feature mentioned anywhere on their site unless you go in depth.

Look, its not gimmicks it works well and its the same thing that Avira is planning ahead for a detection AI...Kaspersky has nothing like this but just has a cloud detection that only work with internet not to mention here in india many people run without internet and more-ever cloud detections will only come via KIS only when it is analyzed as malware in their lab whereas evo-gen has pre-analyzed sets of malware to detect on,if you dont know what the technology actually is and what it does please spare some time to read about it on their blog rather than making assumptions and false statements. o_O

And as sypwar and I have tested this many times,we are completely opposed to that sort of statement because there still more technologies to come from avast and we know it is really effective.

Every AV vendor has some automated systems to process samples from the begining itself, avast uses automated systems to analyze malware from years and so is kaspersky doing the same, even avast pushes out streaming updates and cloud detections so what's the deal!? evo-gen just adds to the 0-day protection and why the hell people always try to be A vs B,Not to mention there is no feature in KIS to protect you offline except HIPS and AV engine whereas in avast there is evo-gen,filerepmalware and all the streaming updates that were downloaded till the time the user was online. Please Read: http://blog.avast.com/2012/12/03/new-toy-research-lab/

Evo-gen has pre-analyzed sets of malware whereas any other automated systems analyze and then produce detections and so evo-gen provides early protection from new malware and then people will still says its gimmicks and of course those who say this are still "blind"

So, Automatic systems - analyze then process the detection.
evo-gen- processes detection of pre-analyzed and confirmed malware sets without many false positives.

and all this for free, what else you want! :)

There are several things that are inaccurate in your post, but let's not delve deeper into A vs B. This thread is about v2014 beta.
