I have never used Prevx SOL and was wondering if there is overlap of the same features with Kaspersky AV 2011. Also, can they both be run together? I'm trying to setup my daughters security for her laptop and you know how kids are.
They can run together. Most of the features of safeonline are not covered by KAV. You can use SafeOnline free http://www.prevx.com/safebook.asp since you already have KAV covering the part that the full version of Prevx do.
He means you don't need the full version of Prevx(the anti-malware part), just SafeOnline(The anti-logging/browserprotection part), and a full SafeOnline license is available for free through that link
And you will get malware alerts with PSO if it gets pass KAV but will only remove the MBR Rootkit and Adware with the free version! TH
There seems to be an issue with Kaspersky's sandbox feature: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1707046&postcount=2
I noticed the free version of SOL for facebook doesn't have "secure HTTPS" so I was wondering if I purchased the full version if it with Kav AV 2011 would slow my daughters laptop down. I guess SB is out of the question cuz it don't work with SOL and she needs the protection for banking and purchases.
Rilla I use paid Prevx SOL and I use Sandboxie. I use Sbie for all browsing. I use SOL (unsandboxed obviously) for banking. Works really well for me.
Hello Stapp, How the heck are ya? You know your right about using SOL unsandboxed. I forget cuz I have been running SB for so long.... short term memory loss. I don't think the "SSL comes with the free version. I noticed sometimes it's blue and I can manually change it. I'm really not familiar with this program so.... we will see. Also, I'm not sure how the paid version with antimalware would get a long with Kav AV 2011.
I'm not sure what you mean, the facebook version is not limited. On default settings, the tab is blue on HTTP sites(or if you set the protection level for HTTP higher then it will also be green) and it is green on any HTTPS site or any site manually added. On HTTPS sites it should also show a lock icon instead of the checkmark icon. Of course you would have to run your browser unsandboxed to allow Prevx to protect it. As for the anti-malware getting along with KAV 2011, it's designed to run along other AV's so it shouldn't be any problem and if SafeOnline is getting along fine now then it also will with a full antimalware license as the free realtime infection monitoring is always present, the full license just adds blocking and removal.
Prevx Free (Realtime infection monitoring) is running very well here with KIS 2011 CF2 (ab). Prevx should/will not interfere with KAV 2011, even you add SafeOnline feature in Prevx. If you want to use Online Banking mode of Kaspersky, then SOL/similar program will not work as such modes/technologies are always designed to work independently without exceptions to provide you expected full protection for said work.
Thank you for the shared information. Right, I know I would have to choose one or the other. How long is this version good for?
