Is Moore's Law Alive and Well? Depends on How You Define Scaling

There's been a lot of talk lately about Moore's Law slowing down and the challenges facing chipmakers as they try to move to ever smaller dimensions. Certainly, PCs aren't getting faster at the rate they once were and the challenges facing chipmakers have never been higher. Still, Intel continues to insist that "Moore's Law is Alive and Well," when talking about its plans for 10nm and 7nm production. To try to figure out what's going on, I looked at some varying measures of progress, and got some different answers.
