Microsoft's Seaport Service runs automatically by default at boot. I've been reading different articles that says Seaport also is used for their customer experience program. If that's true then that would mean they are collecting data from the users. Is Seaport a privacy threat? If i set the service to manual instead of automatic then what effect will this have on my system?

Hey, try it and see ;)

A broader question comes to mind -- whether Windows Live itself is a threat.

    None.

I've already had it manual for months on W7 64 bit and there are no ill effects.
