So just renaming it once it's made is enough? Thanks!

Sure. Or you could move that folder to another folder of your choice in the same partition. The WindowsImageBackup folder is always created in the root.

So if there was no room instead of overwriting the custom named folders would it just tell me there is no room to make the image?

If I tried to restore the backup would I have to change the folder's name back?

No. Just Browse to the folder containing the backup.

I have used the Win 7 backup for others but not for me... it's just too basic. I want to be able to image complete discs (all partitions) and to be able to restore individual files from within an image. I have not found a way around this in the Win 7 Image program.

Thanks for the links...I will check those out. I wasn't aware those options were available with the native imaging tool.

Windows 7 can create a System Repair Disc. If needed, one can boot from it and restore previously created images.

I have learned first hand that some PCs can't create the disc. If there is no other way, the link below allows a user to purchase the files needed to create a System Restore disc. http://neosmart.net/blog/2009/windows-7-system-repair-discs/

I use Windows backup as a fail safe. I use Active@ Disk Image as my primary imaging software. It doesn't overwrite images and is easy to use. I make an image with both apps every time I backup.
