IObit is currently having a survey for the UI of IObit Malware Fighter 5. By looking at the "engine status" on the choices, they will be adding another AV engine, alongside their own and Bitdefender. I looked at the survey not too long ago and they had the Avira umbrella on the UI, but I just looked at it again and it has been replaced by something else. What would you like to see in the next version?
A more reliable implementation of Bitdefender's scan engine would be a good start. At the moment there are some differences between running a scan and when opening a folder containing infected files. Thich means that some threats are not detected when doing a scan, but will be detected when the folder they are in is opened in Explorer. Because of this, I stopped using IMF. Secondly, some good proactive protection would be welcome as well. Have you got a link to the survey at IObit's forum, as I can't find it.
Thanks, it looks smooth but also a bit too flashy. I also don't like the fact that all of their tools are hosted on CNET, a site that can't be fully trusted since they often bundle legit tools with crapware.
No problem. Anyone know what that third engine might be in the middle of the IObit anti-malware and Bitdefender engines?
It's very light, which is something that is important to me. However, it doesn't have any decent proactive protection. I can live without this, but for others it may be an issue. CNET no longer do any bundling. Also Major Geeks is an offiical mirror too.
The only problem I have with IObit is that they don't give you anyway to opt-out of installing some of their software during installations. For example, when I downloaded Advanced Systemcare Ultimate, IObit Uninstaller came along with it and I had no way to opt-out.
IObit Uninstaller is actually part of Advanced SystemCare, which is why there was no option to opt out of installing it. Lately it seems that IObit have actually been either removing the extra software installed with thier programs, or making it unchecked by default, so you unless you specifically choose to install it, you won't get any extras, as you can see in the following screenshot, where IMF can be installed as well, but you would need to manually choose to do so. IObit have been including Dashlane Password Manager with some of their installers lately. However this should stand out, as the details about the offer take up the whole installer window, so you really can't miss it.
Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't know IObit Uninstaller was part of ASC. I don't have a problem with IObit giving you the choice of installing additional software.
It's own engine has really bad detection rates, so you really need the pro version with Bitdefender's scan engine too.
IObit Malware Fighter is absolutely not recommended crap, because will not help anybody in any way, much worse, cannot be installed with other antivirus and defender software. It blocks all others. It is PUP. It may damage your computer's performance drastically. It is personally tested, not someone else's opinion, taken from the air.
The free version can be installed alongside any other antivirus, just like Malwarebytes or Zemana AntiMalware for example. The paid pro version can't be as it is a full antivirus. It's not a PUP, and is one of the lightest antiviruses there is at the moment, in my expereince. The impact on system performance should absolutely minimal. Ths is not something I can say about most antiviruses.
Well okay, use if you think so, it's your decision. I have a different opinion and it has not pink dream.
I've installed it on several computers and I've had none of the problems you had. If you had contacted IObit's support, or posted on their forum, they should have been able to fix the issues you had. Whenever I have a problem with one of their products they are quick to fix it. For it to be slowing down your computer so much, unless you had another antivirus installed as well, something was not working as it should. I've used just about every antivirus there is, and IMF is one of the handful which hasn't caused very noticable slowdowns. I don't use it my main computer anymore, as in my opinion there are better alternatives, but I still have it installed on one of my other computers.
OK thanks, didn't know about this. I also get a funny vibe when I look at all of their tools, not my cup of tea.

I've already tested it on two computers, and feel that it is not that much of an improvement of v4 at this stage. It still only uses Bitdefender sigantures, alongside its own. IObit have not added a third AV engine.

Yes, but that was only so that people could test it and report bugs. The beta versions of IObit's products always have the Pro features unlocked.
