Internet explorer history

    Hi, I am very unfamiliar with I.E, i have always used firefox with sandboxie.
    Today i opened I.E and looked at the history, to my amazement, there were entries for txt documents and jpegs (snipping tool ) that had been on my desktop. Most of them would not open as they have since been deleted.However one txt document which was still on my desktop, could be opened by clicking on it from I.E history, can someone please explain what these files are doing in the I.E history, is this normal, if so I must be more stupid than i thought
