What to make of this ?

Recently Avira has been making some poor business choices (Uniblue, Ask).

After googling 'ID Watchdog' I got a reference to 'First National Gold', which does not appear to be good. However, those references are old and I'm not up to date with current business practices and affiliations.
It seems that 'ID Watchdog' has partnered with several AVs.

Avira's choices have been 'interesting', to put it that way.

It remains to been seen what will happen.

I will probably uninstall Avira in the near future.

If you were to list the companies with the Ask toolbar I know without looking that you would find several. As for ID Watchdog while I can think of two right off the top, I'm sure the list will be growing as they plan to expand the number of alliances or so they say. As for Avira I'd be interested to know what you switch to.

In the US, it is much easier to just freeze your credit reports with the three credit reporting agencies than to constantly monitor them for changes. With a freeze in place, no changes or inquiries can be made so there is nothing to monitor. It's cheap and easy.

I hope Avira is making this (and any other partnership) product integration optional via a custom install in their premium installers or I'll be joining the ranks of those leaving the fold. :'(

    Thanks for the heads-up johnyjohn!
