Actually, I kinda like it the way it is; I'd prefer having to make a few extra selection as opposed to making some error that results in a FUBARed system. And, knowing me, I'd do just that. I have a registered portable on a flash w/IFL as a boot option and on the flash as well. I'd say I'm pretty well covered.

When I make an image of a removable drive, is the disc location of the data stored as well? Meaning, if I were to defrag the drive and then restore that image, would the data be restore in its defragged state? Obviously, it's not good to defrag SSDs or flash drive, but bootable ISOs require this in order to boot correctly is used on a flash drive.

If you want to learn scripts, use Validation scripts. You can't do any damage as no restore takes place.

Same as all sector based imaging apps. The sectors are restored to the same LBAs as were backed up. (restoring to the same partition)

Has anyone ever notice that when imaging a flash drive it doesn't says that VSS or Phylock is being used? I'm set up to use Phylock and when imaging a flash drive nothing is said to be used. However, this is not the case with internal disk (non-usb-drives). Why is that?

Because it's able to get a lock on the drive.

That's what I thought too, but then last night I was imaging it and I got an error that said it couldn't get the lock. Why wouldn't Phylock/vss be used in that case? I wonder if my drive is going bad.

    Hi,

I have IFD version 2.61 and I can make a DVD with the system image to install on other computers.

Is there any option to do the same with a BOOTABLE USB stick instead of a DVD?

    Thanks

Sure. Just select the burner when creating an IFL disc. That, or just copy over the iso and use yumi or easy2boot to have a bootable flash drive.

    Hello everyone.

I need to replace the HDD on my daughters laptop. I'm not overly keen on re-installing windows and software etc but I do have an up to date full disc image taken by IFW.

Is it possible to run the IFW boot media and just copy the IFW back-up onto the clean drive? If it is can someone point me in the direction of a guide of some sort?

If not can I just do a quick Windows re-install then immediately use the IFW disc image to replace the newly installed windows?

It has 5 partitions (the EFI staff, system, data and local back-ups, the image I'm talking about is stored externally). Do it recreate those before installing windows or restoring from IFW image?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Elwe Singollo,

    What size is each HD?

Are you running IFW in Simple or Traditional mode?

OK, easy. Remove the old HD and install the new HD. Just restore the Entire Drive image to the new, empty HD. No special Options are needed. Just the default Options already selected.

Hi, what is the way to set an USB to restore automatically on Image for Linux stick?

On a IFD stick I can modify the file "TBOS.STR" and write a line, for example: "TBIREST.EXE /r /d:b1 /f:b0@1:"my backup image.tbi". How can I do it on an IFL stick?

    Thank you.

Regarding the release of TeraByte Drive Image Backup And Restore Suite v3.00
Does anyone know how to upgrade to v3.00 easily?
It wants to install to a different folder from the previous version, so I guess it may not keep settings.
I want to avoid all the setting up again, if possible.

    Hadron,

See the other thread. Uninstall Ver2 first.

And I guess the schedules will have to be redone also.

Probably. You just need to edit the path to imagew.exe

But it depends on how you set up the Scheduled Tasks,

I have created a new schedule.
I would like IFW to start minimized.
In the tray would be even better, but I don't think it can do that.

What do I add, and how do I do it?
I wish they would include features like this within the GUI.

/min should make it start minimized.

    start "" /min

If it doesn't work can you post your IFW line?

You can make your Scheduled Task start "invisible". IFW is not seen at all. Would that suit?

I went into Task Scheduler > Actions > Add Arguments.
Do I add it there or are you talking about the IFW GUI somewhere?

Did IFW create the Scheduled Task? Or are you scheduling a batch file?

    IFW created the Scheduled Task.
