That's good to know and expected. Very convenient.

If that name Vista32.tbi annoys you, you could change it in tbos.str to a more friendly name. mata7.tbi for example. Do it in the same way you got rid of validate.

If you are happy with Vista32.tbi, leave it alone. The name doesn't really matter.

I'm really pleased it worked out. Things were looking dark at one stage.

    lodore,

This works. Go through the IFW screens until the final one. Click Schedule Backup. On the Task window click the Schedule tab, click New, set your time, OK. Enter your username password as it's a scheduled task. OK. OK. Close IFW.

Unfortunately it doesn't run minimized. Get back to me if you would like that option.

I just re-read your earlier post where you indicated you would like to run it from a command line. What is the path to your IFW Console folder? The one that contains imagewc.exe.

When you created your IFD CD, did you enter Time Zone information in the IFD.INI Options? If not, your times will show as GMT in IFD rather than Local Time.

PS:.. Both IFW and IFD can create differential image backups. These can be scheduled with IFW.

I just realized you haven't bought IFW yet so you won't have IFW Console. What is the path to your imagew.exe? Is it

    C:\Program Files\TeraByte Unlimited\Image for Windows\V2

For those that are interested, I've finally got the command lines that automate the process of creating an image of my active partition. The first .bat file creates the image to a second partion; D:\.

The second automatically creates a bootable image to an optical drive.

Remember, verify the location of your destination with IFW drives first.

    n8chavez,

That's great work in sorting out a command line for an optical drive backup. The only place my and your command line differs (as far as I can see) is I had

    /f:wo0:

    and you have

/f0: (Well actually you don't have that because there is a Smiley in that position and I can't tell. That seems to be the secret here. What is it? I'd like to try it too)

What does PAUSE do at the end?

Nothing, I wanted to see an error message in an earlier version of the .bat. Just replace that with 'exit'.

If you'd prefer I can email the commands because Wilders uses smiley codes which interfere.

Hats off to n8chavez for letting us know how to backup to an optical drive from a command line. I like it.

For those wanting a simpler line, mine is..

    "D:\IFWC_2/imagewc.exe" /b /d:w0@0x3 /f:eek:1:"Backup" /vb

Again we have Smilies so the /f section is (ignore the underscores)

    /f_:_o_1_:

    You may have a 0 instead of a 1

Of interest, if you use a "w" as seen in the IFW Show Command, the command line fails to run.

Ver 2.10a no longer has a "w" in the IFW Show Command. That's great support. Within a few days of an anomaly being reported, the anomaly is fixed with a program update.

I don't get that error message.

Your C:\mata7tbos folder should contain 3 files...

    The tbos.bat should contain...

If the folder is anywhere but C:\mata7tbos it probably won't work. The error message indicates that the folder may not have been C:\mata7tbos. If it was on the desktop it probably won't work. Is that possible?

I think you have been doing it correctly. Try removing the " " in tbos.bat. Make it ...

    Does that make a difference?

Excellent. You are way ahead of me already. One click instead of two. I like it!

My mistake with the " ". They should not have been there.

I understand. It should be really easy. Could you post your backup command line from IFD. Just like you did in Post #38.

    mata7,

Create a new folder in your C: drive. Call it backuptbos. So it will be C:\backuptbos

Open C:\mata7tbos and copy the 3 files to C:\backuptbos

    Working from C:\backuptbos now...

    Edit tbos.bat to

    File, Save

Open tbos.bin in UltraISO or PowerISO

Right click tbos.str and extract it to your desktop (leave UltraISO open)
Open tbos.str (on the desktop), delete the contents and paste this..

Click File, Save. Drag tbos.str into UltraISO (tbos.bin) and click Save
Close UltraISO. Open tbos.bin in UltraISO. Right click tbos.str and click View. Make sure the contents are correct. Close UltraISO.

It's finished. Double click tbos.bat and your computer should shutdown, boot into IFD, create the image and then restart into Windows.

    Let me know what happens.
