    mata7,

I prepared this for a friend named Alan. You will need to download TBOSDT from TeraByte. Good luck.

Why would I mind? It's not like you hijacked the thread. Your question is still very much relevant.

Just as a side note, I value companies that offer great support. I consider that when I purchase software. Terabyte provides excellent support, both by Terabyte official and by users like Brian K who post on the IFW newsgroup. Terabyte support, from my experience, is second only to DefenseWall.

    mata7,

Yes, it's not easy. Spend a few minutes each day trying do get further down the page. It took me a few weeks to create my first tbos.bin but I can do it now in a few minutes.

What is your IFD command line?

im surprised terabyte unlimited dont have an option to restore an OS on reboot. by setting up IFD to restore the image on the reboot.
paragon restores system partitions using a blue screen mode after reboot.
then again the IFD recovery cd is easy enough to use and quite fast it doesnt really matter.

OK. Boot to your IFD CD and pretend you are going to restore an image. Go through the screens until you get to the screen shown on page 41 of the userguide (IFD PDF manual). Press F6 to Show Command. Write down the command line and post it here. Be careful to get the spaces in the command line correct when you write it down.

Correct. It doesn't really matter. Using the IFD CD is easy.

TeraByte has three imaging programs (ver 2) and one ver 1 imaging program. Images from IFW, IFD and IFL are interchangeable and can be restored from any of the three programs. There are several ways to restore an image. Briefly without details.

    1. From a bootable DVD containing the image
    2. From an IFD CD
    3. From an IFD flash drive
    4. From an IFL CD
    5. From a custom IFD CD (unattended)
    6. From a custom IFD flash drive (unattended)
    7. From BartPE
    8. From VistaPE
    9. From a DOS dual boot (unattended)
    10. From a Windows dual boot (unattended)
    11. From a Method 1 TBOSDT (unattended)
    12. From a Method 2 TBOSDT (unattended)

    Take your pick.

    n8chavez,

You will like this. Use this command line in your batch file. rb:0 is no longer needed. Since ver 2.10.

    imagewc /b /d:w0@0x1 /f:"n8 %%~YYYY%%-%%~MM%%-%%~DD%%-%%~HHMM%%" /uy /vb /desc:System /enc:3 /pw:password

    the filename is

    "n8 %%~YYYY%%-%%~MM%%-%%~DD%%-%%~HHMM%%"

Year, month, date, hours, minutes. No more overwriting of image files.

    mata7,

I'm sure I can take you through this gradually. Have you downloaded TBOSDT? Do you want to go ahead?

    mata7,

    OK. Step 1.

    We'll use the batch files.

In the "dos_tbos" folder, right click and click New, Text document. Rename it to Method2.txt

Copy these 4 lines and paste them into Method2.txt (In the Format menu of Method2.txt, make sure there is no tick next to Word Wrap)

    add virtdrv d:\tbos.bin 1 TBOS /b
    set textline tbos.str "bootfile.exe" /b
    set textline tbos.str "image.exe /r /d:b0@0x1 /f:b2@0x1:"\IFW\Vista x64-1" /uy /v /a /o"
    set textline tbos.str "bootfile.exe /reboot" /a

    Click, File, Save.

Now right click Method2.txt and click Rename. Change the name to Method2.run
    Accept the warning

Let me know when this has been done. I've added some extra switches to line 3. They are needed.

I see your desired filename is Vista x64-1.tib

Do you have the latest version of IFD? Ver 2.10?

As before, still in the same folder. Copy your image.exe and your ifd.ini files to this folder.

    Create a file, method2.txt

Copy and paste these 2 lines into method2.txt

    tbosdt method2.run
    tbossys /f d:\tbos.bin bootfile.exe tbos.str image.exe IFD.ini

    Rename method2.txt to method2.bat

Double click method2.bat file and it will create tbos.str file in the same
folder. Delete tbos.str from the folder as it's no longer needed.

Get back to me or continue on if you are feeling confident.

    mata7,

Before I describe how to find your ifd.ini, you should contact David at TeraByte Support to see if your Vista 64-bit is compatible with TBOSDT.

OK. Let's make an ifd.ini (that's easier than finding the original)

Open a Notepad text document and paste these lines into the page. The spaces are OK.

Replace 1234-1234-1234 with your product key.
Save the file and then rename to ifd.ini

PS... What is the restore IFD command line for your vista x86. Are you dual booting or is it a different computer.

    image /r /d:b0@0x1 /f:b2@0x1:"\IFW\Vista x32-1"

is no a dualboot, but is on same comp, i just have 2 image one for x32 bit and one for x64 bit, so i will start all over just change the command line and i will let you know when is ready

david say You're trying to run the DOS version. You need to run the Windows version if running from Windows

im doing all this on the dos_tbos folder should i do it on win folder?

Strange, David told me to do it from the dos_tbos folder. You can get it to work from the win folder but it's messy. Keep trying from the dos_tbos folder.

    Your new Method2.run will be

    add virtdrv d:\tbos.bin 1 TBOS /b
    set textline tbos.str "bootfile.exe" /b
    set textline tbos.str "image.exe /r /d:b0@0x1 /f:b2@0x1:"\IFW\Vista x32-1" /uy /v /a /o"
    set textline tbos.str "bootfile.exe /reboot" /a

Could you open the created tbos.str with Notepad and post the contents. Don't delete it until we're certain that it's OK.
