    Yes, WinXP can't create 2048 sector aligned partitions.

    That would be far easier than my suggestion.

    It might affect the performance of that partition.

    Interesting. You wouldn't see this with a 128 GB HD. Does the 128 refer to GiB rather than GB?

    Is it OK to defragment SSD's?

    If yes, will the Windows XP Pro built-in defragmenter properly defragment a SSD? If the Windows XP Pro built-in defragmenter will Not properly defragment SSD's, which defragmentator software will properly defragment a SSD?

    There is a lot of marketing information (misinformation) about this. I rarely defrag hard drives and I wouldn't defrag SSDs because you have everything to lose and probably nothing to gain.

    TK... even Windows 7 knows it's not OK to defragment SSDs. When W7 is clean installed on an SSD, W7 will detect it as an SSD and remove it from the pool of disks that may be defragmented either manually or automatically.

    It is NOT RECOMMENDED to defrag an SSD...
