    Gday

My system crashed, when Vista tried load it came up with winlogon.exe error.

I put my HDM 2011 Suite Boot Up disk in, it came up with an i/o error, so I reinstalled Vista from the CD, installed HDM 2011, and recovered my system from within the Windows environment.

My main hard drive has been partitioned it has C:\ , I:\, M:\ and K:\
My other hard drive has also been partitioned J:\, F:\, G:\, H:\, and I:\

Now I want to restore an earlier backup than the one I did, however, from both the Windows environment and the CD boot up disk, it does not want to restore it to C:\, it will only give me K:\ as an option to restore too.

How do I get around this without reinstalling Vista yet again?

    Strange.

Paragon allows me to restore anywhere I choose.

Please post a screenshot of windows disk management window.

Just so I understand the question :

Are you able to select the backup image and get this window?

Then when you click Next - you should get this window, allowing you to select any location to restore to:

It wont go "gold" on my C:\ os.jpg

where it wants to restore k.jpg

It's not a simple file restore, I want to redo my OS as it stood prior to the crash

Are you trying to restore an entire Hard Drive image - back to just a single partition?

If you only wanrt to restore the "C" partition - then select that partition from the backup image ( not the whole image ).

Dumb question maybe but how do I restore just the C:\ , thats the only thing I backup, as you can see I have multiple drives plus 2 external drives, so I have all of my music, pics, etc etc etc backed up over various drives.

So when I do my backups I only do the C:\

So my question still stands how do I do I restore an earlier backup on a working OS

Do you get exactly the same as in the first pic I posted.

Only 1 partition showing in the backup image?

I did that time, I was fiddling with "Show All", "Show Disks" "Show Partitions", it's simple when you know how :-*
