Can anyone steer me in the right direction please?
I simply want to backup data to a CD or DVD disc with Password protection.
Then Insert the disc into my laptop and enter Password and view the contents "without having to Restore".
It would also be nice if could restore as well from this disc.o_O??
Am running XP Pro. Have Acronis 10, Roxio & Access to Nero 7 Premium(currently uninstalled).
I have spent stupendous hours over time looking for this solution ,and
as much as i like solving my challenges myself, i would like the solution to this
one before my next life.(slow learner)
Therefore i put this question to the combined expertise of Wilders experienced & helpfull contributers.

    Many thanks in advance.

May i say this forum provides invaluable information to thousands of average
& confused learning computer uses (like myself) who simply watch, read, study & research quietly in the background.
So you expert contrubitors are really appreciated out here.(in mediocre land)
In closing i would suggest to all like me, Hungry for correct, unbiased & professional advice visit here first.
    Thanks Guys!!!!

    Hi Senior Sailer,

Earlier versions of Roxio provided password encryption but you had to restore the files on the hard disk to view them.

Another solution is buying a SecureDisc capable recorder. LG was the first company that adopted this technology.
    LG Drives
    Lite-On Drives
For using SecureDisc with nero 7 you will need to update it form here.

Although I do have a SecureDisc Drive I have not played much with this feature and I do not know for sure if you can view the files directly from the DVD; small Files and pdfs you can view the directly from the drive but I haven't tried with large video files.

    hope it helps,
    Panagiotis

    HI Pandlouk
    Thank you for your input.
After researching your suggestions I still cant see the simplicity &
    economy that i need.

I would still appreciate more input.
Could nero 7 Achive my goal..or acronis 10..or perhaps PGP it
looks good but i have not been able to down load to evaluate.

    Many thanks

    You are welcome. :)

There are some alternatives out there:
    CryptCD
    Master Voyager
    CD-Lock
    Encryption Anywhere CD-DVD
    SecurDataStor, SecurWrap and SecurDataStor Batch
Google results on cd, dvd encryption.
The most interesting (for me) is Master Voyager.
ps. If you try any of them please report back your findings/impressions; I'm sure that it will help others who look for similar apps.
