How to activate CyberSecurity with a serial number?

Hi
Must be missing something as received a ESET VIP Licence from a work colleague who attended a conference. I've tried to follow the instructions, i.e.

1. Visit www.eset.co.uk/activate
2. Enter your details and the 20-digit serial no. below
3. Download product of choice
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to download, install and set up your new software

Problem is, 1 doesn't seem to exist, so I downloaded and installed the application as if I was already licensed, but the options to activate don't allow use of the serial number!
What did I do wrong?
