Employees. I wish I could hire some more to implement all the ideas we have, but I'm limited by financial aspects.

Note, Emsisoft is growing naturally without any external funds or loans. That might sound silly to Americans, but in good old Europe this is the typical way to go and it's much more safe on the long run. Most of the venture capital backed companies crash within the first 5 years. Emsisoft just celebrated its 8th anniversary.

I wonder how much of those 18.6k are really into it, with that much resources they should be pretty much unbeatable, best of the best, creme of the crop

 

Well, some companies have a strong focus on product development (like Emsisoft) and others mainly on sales and marketing.

 

99% of Symantec's workforce is likely support for business customers. That's what they charge you for essentially.

There's basically three ways to make money as an AV company that I see, sell licenses to your product or sell support for your product or sell both.
