    I have tried in the last few years;

    Norton
    McAfee
    Panda
    F-Secure
    NOD32
    Kaspersky
    Avira
    AVG
    Avast

My favourite by far are; NOD32, Kaspersky and Avira.

Currently I am using a KAV7 trial and when it runs out in 9 days I will buy NOD32. I also use Avira AntiVir PE Premium 3 month trial, but have not installed the guard/real-time protection and I only use it for on-demand scans, which is perfect for some extra backup.

Do a search around the forum and you'll find tons of info on VirusChaser. It is a "nostalgic" AV; basically an AV based on Dr.Web engine but has a prettier interface. It also does not use the Dr.Web heuristic engine and relies on signatures solely. It does have a few extra signatures over Dr.Web itself though. No HTTP scanning; its development seems limited by the development of Dr.Web's engine.... :)

it uses drwebs engine but not their hueristics = lower detection.

and i prefer drwebs software, aswell as their GUI compared to VC's.

Well that would be obvious if the poster searched around the forum as I had suggested. I wanted to keep it short and concise so we'll not veer off the topic at hand :D

    BTW no offense intended :)

Antiviruses I used from my first internet experience:
    Norton antivirus 4-5 months
    RAV - 7-8 months
    F-Prot - several months
    Kaspersky - 1 month
    Bit Defender - 1 month
    NOD32 - 2 years

During the years I had installed for several days Panda, AVG, Avast, McAfee, Rising AV.

For the last 3 years NOD32, but currently Avira Antivir Premium. Also briefly, AVG - Avast - Bitdefender - McAfee - Panda - Symantec - Trend Micro.

but virusscans base apparently is in asia, meaning it will perform better there. I found some asian anti-virus tests and saw that it caught 89% which is OK.
