how does antispy works?

Downloaded ewido 4.0 trial today and how does antispy in tools section works...had some pre-checked and wonder if ewido check thru registry when installing and check what i had terminated or is it just pre-checked...hope someone understand what i mean i can help me too try understand this?

The ewido program queries those registry entry locations and depending on the operating system\installed products....displays what registry setting a particular item already has.
