Not a good move imo. Trend Micro is far from being as effective as McAfee.

IMO that is the correct answer.

For Hotmail only the costs are important, security is much less important.

I don't care, I protect myself in my own way and don't trust anybody else, and for sure not Hotmail when they claim that Trend Micro is better then McAfee.

When I read the statement from Hotmail:

"Martin Hoffman, chief executive of Ninemsn, which operates Hotmail in Australia and is half owned by Microsoft, said in a statement that Hotmail will be able to provide a "safer online experience" using Trend Micro's products because they provide "deeper antivirus protection."

"Ninemsn is focused on providing a safer online experience for our Australian customers...We're pleased to work with Trend Micro, to provide deeper antivirus protection for our Hotmail customers", I know enough.

    Ciao,

    Wouldn't YOU like to know?
I think they'll shift their tech over to RAV after they've "customised" to their "needs" (read: mucked it up completely)...
Plus I think there were some loose ends about copyrights and whatnot...

I read a little infomation and actually emailed hotmail about their antivirus service built into hotmail before. It had been brought to my attention that although hotmail were using McAfee, it was a reasonably old version of the product availible. I did not get a reply, hower probably due to a number of inquirues, they seem to upgrade more and I get an reasonably personal email each time they do :D

But meanwhile MSN is still giving away free copies of McAfee to its members...I wonder if that offer will switch to Trend as well?
