    Hi, erik!

Today, without any apparent reason, HP 3.5.6 build 104 reverted automatically to the last official build (.98 ) ... o_O

Referring to this and some previous posts, I would just like to note that the link on their homepage was indeed for the new build at first, so I guess it's reverted on all fronts for an important reason.

I agree with you, and I believe it is unneeded addition.

Looks like a highly severe issue was found. A typical example of "stay tuned" I guess.

First time I am happy with the fact I am using a 64-bit version of Hitman Pro :D.

    Build 105

As some of you already noticed, we temporarily rolled back to build 98.

This was due to a problem with the removal of some versions of the TDL3 Rootkit that infected some specific driver files. Build 104 was not properly handling certain scenario's.

We just released build 105 to address this issue and if you find any problems with this build, please report them.

In May, Microsoft reported that is has removed over 260.000 TDL3 infections from consumer computers using their Microsoft Software Removal Tool (MSRT). Their removal did not include the newest variant that is spreading since late March 2010. The variant is being pushed in Spam and in PDF/Java exploits. As a result we see since the release of build 104 a huge increase in detection of this TDL3 variant. More on this later.

Is the file signed? Is it partially downloaded?

193 means that the downloaded EXE is incomplete.

    1. You've disabled the "Trust..." options in PDM, hence the prompt.
    2. HMP does install a driver, the message isn't erroneous. :)

So, does anybody know if Avira is coming back to Hitman Pro?
I heard they are working on their cloud scanner (Avira) and they might join HMP again when it's finished.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

    Couple of questions,

1)Why after always updating, restarting of HMP leaves the previous systray icon behind?
2)You have added this cookie cleaner, does the use of cleaning the tracking cookies invoke the 30 day grace period?

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

    1) I don't know
    2) Tracking cookies removal is part of the free part of the product,
    so now you basically have:

    Free: scanning, tracking cookies removal.
Trial: 30 days malware removal, you can start the trial at any moment you like, so you can be sure you have atleast the opportunity to removal malware once for free.
Paid: malware removal + removed AV Ballot and other ads.

Looks a little bit like Prevx pricing model: where the free version also removes only certain types of adware, and you have to pay for malware removal.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

By default the PDM doesn't warn about known or applications signed with a valid digital sig. HMP's exe's should be signed, you can verify if they are by right clicking the exe for which the PDM warning is shown (if it's still there).
And just for clarifying, I'm talking about these options: http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208282305
I've never received such a prompt about HMP unless I've disabled the above options in PDM.
