I am using with KIS 2013 and have found no issues so far. I just run it on demand and have not tried removal of viruses with it yet.

HitmanPro scans are inconsistant. I have an application that is installed the same way in XP as it is on Win7. During a daily startup default scan on Win7, HMP will flag the app as malware (FP) and on XP, it misses it completely. If I scan the file in XP via the explorer context menu, the file is flagged, but not during a startup or manual default scan. So if this were real malware, I would not even know it under XP. The file selection for scanning seems to be random which I assume is also the reason why HMP scans are fairly quick. Doesn't that leave things open to go undetected?

When was the last time you executed the mentioned file on the XP system? HMP scans only recently executed applications, loaded/running applications and predetermined sensitive areas of the system. If the file has been dormant on the system or located outside of "sensitive" areas it won't be scanned, as HMP is meant for active infections.

As far as I know, the app being flagged was beta at the time and don't recall using it for months on either system. The detection just started recently on Win7. Your explanation sounds like how it should work, but I really can't say HMP is working that way in this case. Also, running back-to-back scans in Win7 always shows differences in the total objects scanned which lead me to my assumption about each scan being different. Maybe that's a good thing - I don't know.

I'm considering purchasing a license to avoid the 10 second delay after scans... now that I have it set up to automatically scan downloads via the "Download Statusbar" addon tweak in Firefox. Those 10 seconds could add up...

Hi guys, I did a search in this thread for Ransome malware and how HMP deals with that, no hits.
    Has this been discussed?
If I have HMP installed and my screen gets blocked, can I start up HMP or is that not possible in this scenario?

    Cheers

this is really impressive. It really is starting to make sense to go with something like Sandboxie or VooDooShield, no AV, and HP for your on demand protection.

To me, this is the future, whitelisting backed up by a powerful scanner.

    Again, fantastic news for HP.:thumb:

Thanks :thumb: , I am familiar with the force breach mode.
If you can move around your desktop and open up were your programs are located this works fine.
What happens when your whole screen is locked and you only see the ransom page?
I guess you would need some kind of "force breach" during boot before windows starts?

I guess I should ask... does the paid version remove that 10 second counter?
