got the autoupdate (3.6.1 build 163). thank you very much, seems to be working as it should.

I do have a question and sorry if this was answered already, couldn't find it.

what is the unselectable / greyed-out option in the first tab of 'settings' ?
it has a selectionbox and the text
    Code:
    Protection against LNK vulnerability (CVE-2010-2568)
    just curious about it :D

the box is greyed out because you already have the microsoft patch which plugs the vulnerability

Gdata has Bitdefender so why it has Bitdefender too?

Emsisoft has Ikarus so why Ikarus too?

Just found out today there is a brute force start-up, in case there is a fake av shutting everything down. :D

mrizos just did a review on this today...

    Hi Erik,

Matt Rizos reviewed HitmanPro's Force breach mode: -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-5Punj4A60

    Here are problems he found:

    1. It took him "about 6 times for that Force Breach Mode to work"
    2. It never reboots the PC after removing the malware.
    3. After rebooting the PC, he got a blank desktop. He "had to use ComboFix to restore the desktop."

    Hi Brian,

    1. You need to keep the left Ctrl key pressed until you see HitmanPro. What I usually do is press Left-Ctrl and then right-click on HitmanPro's icon and choose Open. Keep the left Ctrl key pressed until the HitmanPro window appears (if you have UAC enabled, keep left Ctrl pressed and accept the UAC prompt).

    2. How odd that the system doesn't reboot. I would love to have a look at his session. Perhaps he discovered a bug.

    3. That's odd. That should not happen. Does he still have the VMware session so that we can do some tests?

In addition, Matt Matt should have run HitmanPro again to see whether all malware has been removed. This because when you've dropped malware in a test machine the malware usually gets more malware files from the internet. When this happens after the Scan then the scan has missed a file (HitmanPro does not scan files that came in during the scan). So always run HitmanPro again after removal to remove the malware that came in during the Scan.

At the end MBAM lists some PUPs (potentially unwanted programs) which are not harmful and are therefor not listed by HitmanPro.

Note: Would also like to see a movie where Matt first runs MBAM and then HitmanPro.

I had the same problem with my machine not rebooting on it's own, had to do it manually. I was using Vbox.

With the latest version? Or did you also had it with a version before 163?

I used 163. But I didn't have the same problem entering force breach as he did.

I can confirm there is an issue with the reboot request after malware removal. It's not working properly. We're fixing it as we speak.

    Hi Erik,

I'll ask him. Also, as you probably know, HitmanPro won't scan if there's no Internet connection. Could you remove that feature?

HMP is a purely based cloud scanner I believe, no signatures.

I would like to support the developer the problem is that I already have lic for most of those AV apps.
Thus, is there a discount price for Hitman Pro?

    @DX2

It has a behavioral scan and also has its own little database.

Err... You can still scan using EWS (Early Warning Score) if you choose to or if you don't have internet acess. EWS will rate suspicious items based on HMP's internal behaviour analysis.
