Hi all After installing NOD32 a couple months ago, I loved it so much that I recommended it to everyone I know. I installed it at my GF's family PC, with Blackspear's settings. But she has a 13 yr old brother, so you can imagine that it doesn´t matter how strong security is, and how often I performed on-demand scans, the computer got infected. It's a spyware that replaces the wallpaper with a Biohazard symbol and a message that says "Protect your privacy" or something like that (also it hijackes homepage and constantly displays pop-ups). Looked into some forums and I'm dealing with it right now...I gues in one or two days I'll have it fixed (a couple of years ago I decided to live with no protection at all, so I got very used to deal with malware or at least to know where to ask). Anyways, as I don't plan to deal with such things every month, I'll install some antispyware protection (I know, I should have done it earlier, specially knowing that it was obvious that the computer would get infected), so I'd like to know what AntiSpyware you guys could recommend me, that has decent detection/removal rates, light on resources, and most important, that get along nicely with NOD32 (this is why I'm asking here and not in the other forums). Thanks HURST
First I assume you have made sure the kid can't change NOD's settings. Second I'm using CounterSpy V 2.5.1032 which has a 15 day trial with NOD. http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ Bought it after the trial. It is lighter on resources than SuperAntiSpyware which also worked fine with NOD.
Counterspy and Superantispyware Pro are both good, for me it has to be Superantispyware Pro because it's light on my computer and has good support, plus you can buy a lifetime subscription while counterspy you have to pay yearly, but try both if you wish at seperate times and see which one you like.
Thanks for your answers. Currently i'm trying SAS on my own PC. Been pleased with it, runs light. "Unfortunately", I rarely have spyware problems, 'cause I stay away from porn and cracks/warez sites, and I always think twice before clicking on a link, so I couldn't test its performance yet. I'll give CS a try. I'm also considering HIPS (foy my PC)... maybe i'm getting paranoid... regards HURST
With a really high risk user like that, lock the system up in a frozen state with FirstDefence ISR and password protect it. Reboot the system each day and the problems they have created are gone. Cheers
