I became infected with multiple spyware on 6/13 after a family member did a Google search for "anime" and clicked on one of the entries, which then redirected the page to what looked like a porn site. (Help me get any of that crud off too, please!)

I ran AdAware and Spybot multiple times (both of them), as Spybot kept locking up. Spybot S&D found LOP and appeared to remove it, but I was left with a top toolbar from lop.com and an intermittant bottom toolbar. I ran hijack this and removed the top toolbar, but I am left with the bottom toolbar. Whenever I open up a new window, my browser is hijacked to prosearching.com for a split second before it opens up to my homepage (top toolbar would send me to lop.com). The result is popups.

I have the Google toolbar, which I was using as a popup blocker, but this round of spyware has managed to circumvent that and semi-disable the Google toolbar.

I have an updated copy Norton Systemworks and virus protection running and the XP firewall in place. I have a router also that acts as a firewall.

I've deleted the Wild Tangent stuff previously, but it is showing up in the Hijack This log.

The one really odd thing that happened after getting infected with spyware was that when I went into my control panel for scheduled tasks, it showed that Symantec NetDetect was scheduled to begin running at 6:58am on June 14th, and it was set to run every 5 minutes every 24 hours on a daily basis. That event was not previously scheduled until the spyware problem. I set the scheduler to run NetDetect on June 1st and to run one 1x only--thus temporarily disabling that potential problem. (What do I do about this?)

Can you please tell me what to remove in the log below, as well as what other programs I may need to install to keep the spyware at bay? And let me know if there are any odd programs in the log? TIA.

This is the line I already deleted from Hijack This, to get rid of the first toolbar:

First, from Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, uninstall Veiwpoint media player.
I strongly recommend that you also uninstall Kazaa, as it is a vermin farm, and retaining it will only lead to further infestations of malware.

Have Hijack This fix all of the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and hitting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

I deleted everything you said, but one file:
    c:/Program Files/topMoxie.
It wasn't in the hidden files either.

The toolbar problem appears to be fixed --and I haven't gotten any pop ups when I opened up some new windows. But the Google toolbar isn't as functional as before. It is now stuck over to the side and I can't see the page ranking #. What is your opinion on the Google toolbar? Should I reinstall or get a different pop up stopper? (I was using it to track google's search engine rankings for websites--plus it blocked pop up ads.)

I noticed that the HP center was on your list to fix--but it still loads after rebooting even after running Hijack This. Would this be a source of spyware or a problem?

Any recommendations on a firewall? I've read reviews that the newest version of Zone Alarm doesn't work well with Windows XP.

    Thanks again.

Oh, and what do I do with all the backup files it put in the Hijack This folder?

Here is the new log after doing the fixes you recommended.
