In the past, everytime I picked a new AV/Firewall, I chose it because of test results. Since I was a pretty average user back then, tests were the only way to find a good enough AV (and the tests actually helped me). However after getting familiar with a few products (Kaspersky, Comodo, Online Armor and Avira) over the years, I've always used only them because they've simply worked well enough and provided good enough protection (not 100% - but good enough, with always having a HIPS and sometimes a sandbox enabled, most likely much better protection than anything has achieved in dynamic tests) - and never got infected. I don't care if a product fails a test or two as long as I have a feel of being protected with it.

Yes thats what i am alos looking for...the only product that gave me that feel was kaspersky but the previous versions were too slow
so i tried avast and from then on it has become my fav antivirus
i keep on tetsing different antivirus but always kept going back to avast

trjam, just so you're enjoying yourself, there are a lot worse things that you could be doing with your afternoons than playing around with anti-viruses. Every one of us wastes our time doing something that others think crazy, as long as someone is not getting their jollies out of hurting others, I don't care what they're doing ...

I havn't changed my antivirus choice in years, no matter the results of tests.

What I have changed more often is the available choices i recommend to others.

Miracles do happen, yes it is true. I'm glad you have finally seen the light. Does that mean you will keep your avatar the same for a long, long time? :D.

    Thanks.

I think trjam is gone because he's broke and can't afford to buy 10 users their licenses for security software. He'll be back once he gets his paycheck. :argh:

Why don't 10 of us PM trjam and inform him that we will "officially" accept the offer of 1 software each, but in reality will not require him to buy us anything. I'm sending the PM now.

PS- Put the words "software workaround" in the PM subject so he'll know what it is. :)

You released him from his obligation and locked the thread/poll.
That's a nice gesture, but trjam didn't promise to purchase 10 licenses for you, did he? :)
You should have left the poll open.

I second that. He has promise to live up to. One can't just throw something out and then a week later take it back.

Haha! Okey, enough joking around for now. :) Trjam, you're free to switch software, it's fine by be! Do please try to keep to setups a bit longer as it would give your opinions a greater impact as we then would know you're really meaning it... and not say one thing great about how that piece of software is a keeper and then 2 hours later switch to completely different. :D

I think he just does what we all would like to do a little more often...it can be addictive!

This is exactly why I said in an earlier post that I wasn't interested in his offer because I knew he has had various setups within snapshots, and, deep down, I couldn't see him really giving that up ultimately. That's just the way he is, and nothing wrong with that. :)

So, of course, he is excused and released from making the offer in the first place.
