    Hi Guys,

I'm trying to remove virus/spyware from a friends computer:

I can boot to safe/mode, or regular windows desktop icons are available for about a minute, then blank screen.

ctrl+alt+del gives a steady task mgr.

internet is not available for the infected machine.

I'm hoping from ctrl+alt+del (new task) RUN

I can aim to the burner D:\ and run something from a cd.

What can i download using this machine, install to CD, then run on the infected box.

    Thanks & Take Care
    Rico

PS This really re-enforces my love for Shadow Defender & Acronis.

Sounds like you're stuck, unless "this" machine refers to your (not the infected) puter.
I would (if possible) DL Dr Web Cure-it via another machine, burn to disc, run it on the sick box.

    Good luck

Rico, besides CureIt, take a look here: The Portable Freeware Collection and the two that I would suggest you run first are Stinger and Multi Virus Cleaner. That PC might need all of them; best of luck!

    Hi Guys,

    Many Thanks!

Dr. Web cleaned the system, enough to stabilize the OS.

    SUPERantiSpyware - found additional malware

Next install/run CCleaner many MB's deleted + 160 reg errors

    Next restore point

Next Runscanner many bogus items deleted here

Next Install AVG free 28 items found so far <scan still in progress>

Hopefully I can reboot & get some clean scans, defrag & return the machine.

    Take Care
    Rico

    Hi PiCo,

Too many! Boy Thank goodness for 'Wilders', Shadow Defender, & Acronis. With the three mentioned I became pretty unaware of 'malware' & the real world.

One or two more scans & I'll bless the sick box as cured, it's a miracle.

    Thanks & Take Care
    Rico
