In terms of the discussion of Anti Virus software I'm sometimes confused on when it comes to setting up my AV to what is the best option to use when or assume a virus is detected. Ok I've set up NOD32 using Blackspears tutorial (many kind thanks Blackspears :D ) but now I'm setting up my Bitdefender Pro 9 and also the free version of Bitdefender Ver 8 in which I use in conjunction with NOD32. The BD Pro 9 runs seperately on another PC.

Also whats the differnce between Virus Shield and Virus Scan ?

Here are my options that I have with BD Pro 9 assume a virus is detected:

    For Virus Shield

Action to be taken when infected file is found:

    1st Option

    1. Deny access & continue
    2. Clean file
    3. Delete file
    4. Move file to quarantine

    2nd Option

    Same as 1 - 4 as above

    For Scan Settings

Action to be taken when infected file is found:

    1. Non (log objects)
    2. Prompt user for action
    3. Disinfect files
    4. Delete files
    5. Rename files
    6. Copy files to quarantine
    7. Move files to quarantine

    Second Option

    Same as 1 - 7 above

Action to be taken when suspected file is found

    Same options as 1 - 7 above

    Second Action

    Same as 1 - 7 above

For Bitdefender Ver 8 Free Edition

This is the edition that I'm using with NOD32.

Here are the options if a virus is found:

    First action options

    1. Report
    2. Prompt user for action
    3. Disinfect
    4. Delete
    5. Rename
    6. Copy to quarantine
    7. Move to quarantine

    Second action options

    Same as 1 - 7 above
