I have some very wierd stuff going on and am a bit worried. I have a small box pop up three times, quite regularly, telling me that windows has detected spyware and needs to download a program to fix it. I've not done that. Also, occasionally, my firewall picks up a program named 'BHUI.exe' and 'arpa.exe' trying to access internet. I have stopped this so far. I am no longer able to open notepad, regedit and probably other stuff too.I have folllowed the instructions on this forum, I have scanned and removed some files with Spybot. I have scanned with hijackthis and pasted the log below. Even after following these instructions, all the above problems are still happening. I would really appreciate some help if anyone is able! Thanks very much. (please speak to me in laymans terms if poss!).

Thanks for your prompt reply, was that all I was supposed to do? It's all back now and nothing appears to be fixed, though I followed your instructions to the letter. I have removed the items in the trusted zone, which have materialised again, so I've added them to my restricted zone and also changed the settings of my 'trusted zone' to disallow everything. 'BHUI.exe' still attempts to run and I can't open notepad and regedit (possibly others). Here is the log now, after applying the changes you suggested. Can anyone please help any further?

    Hi ReBeL,

Can you find this file C:\WINDOWS\System32\hffsrv.exe
Rightclick it and check under Properties > Version tab what it has to say about itself.

    Regards,

    Pieter

There wasn't a version tab for it. there is 'general', 'compatibility' and 'summary'.

under general; size 77Kb, size on disk 80Kb, created 12th september 2003, modified 12th september 2003, read only and hidden both unchecked.

What info would you need? Thanks again for your reply.

OK, I'm starting to get a bit stressed with all this now, it's getting ridiculous! I thought I was finally getting somewhere but it seems that every time I save the hijackthis log as a .txt file, and I suppose if I try starting notepad or regedit, all these things I've deleted and fixed seem to apear again and this bhui.exe tries connecting to the internet again. I am just going round in circles. I realise this must be a very busy forum but I'd really appreciate some help with this.

Here is the log when I was at a point where I thought I was at least making some progress, and then after is the log made after I saved the previous one as a .txt file:
