So if I have a current AT&T plan with a Blackberry can I opt out and just get a new plan? AT&T service for BB in my area is just horrible. I might as well not even have to pay for internet access as it's pretty useless.

Capped data plans are against the whole logic of the devices they are selling.

I don't use AT&T, but I know for existing customers you can either keep your unlimited plan or opt for one of the 2 new capped plans, DataPlus (200MB $15/mo) or DataPro (2GB $25/mo).

Accepting that assumption's true, you could also assert that today's cellular technology itself is 'against the whole logic of the devices they are selling' since the mobile carrier's radio frequency spectrum portion is scarce and expensive to expand, compared to land-based DSL or cable that can add bandwidth much more cost effectively as 'unlimited'.
