HDMS12 Restore PBF/PFI

I know this has been discussed before but a search finds nothing for PBF or PFI by itself.

Got some nasty malware yesterday with a download, my bad! All three(only three for some reason) system restore points just hang even from Safe Mode.

Tried to restore a basic full disk archive but get some file problem, in use, view file which shows no files? Tried using the PBF file, same thing but the PFI file worked.

Can't remember, is this normal? First backup restore needed since sometime in 2011 but system restore point has worked since than when needed, once only I think.
