Fellow aussie, hitman pro and MBAM cleaned a friend's system last night. In my opinion, two of the best programs around.

What ever happened to the free version of The Cleaner? I saw some old threads about it going free again but I can't find it any more.

    Yes Best programs.:thumb:

But 2 days ago i tried to clean my cousin's pc which was infected with some nasty malwares including conficker. His pc was up to date with Eset SS . But that malware disabled Eset. I tried to clean his pc with MBAM , Hitman pro. Mbam couldnt detect anything:eek: . Hitman pro detected 1 malware(GData) , and removed that. But still some malwares are remaining(some windows funtions are disabled). He's calling me daily to clean his pc. fortunately there is a back up of his C: drive.so im going to restore that backup tommorrow.

Also we cannot judge the effectiveness of a software by just testing against Rogue.Almost all Avs are not able to detect new rogues.

The simple answer as to why there is no detection is that the sample hasn't been seen by MBAM or HMP so it hasn't been added to the database.

Most AV/AM vendors are dismayed at missing an infection as much as the person that's infected.

The authors of these malwares usually test that their exploits are missed by most before releasing.

The best thing to do is to grab any undetected samples and get em over to your favourite good guys for inclusion into their database.

Below is a pic of different installers for the rogue "Internet Security 2010".

Probably only have a quarter of what's out there with new undetected versions getting released at any time.

    Hi:

Give a-squared free a try (one of the best anti-malwares). Also try GMER and combofix on your friends' pc. With these he should get his pc back to function (specialy combofix). Also try dr. web cureit too.
