    I'd like to install a good backup program for OE. I read a review in some computer magazine (probably SmartComputing) that had good things to say about Genie-soft FREE Outlook Express Backup 6.5.

    Have any Wilders members used it and care to share their opinions :thumb: or :thumbd: ?

    Any other OE backup programs to recommend?

    Thanks! :)

    I am using MailStore Home (free):

    MailStore Home archives email from:

    * Microsoft Outlook 2000, XP, 2003 and 2007
    * Microsoft Outlook Express and Windows Mail
    * Microsoft Exchange Server Mailboxes
    * Mozilla Thunderbird and SeaMonkey
    * POP3 and IMAP (including webmail services such as Gmail and Yahoo)
    * .eml and other files

    Thanks for your recommendations. I will naturally check them out before deciding. Have you ever had any trouble with the programs you mentioned? :)

    Page, unless all that you do is send and receive email, why waste you time with a limited program that just backs-up email? At the very least, I would get a program that also backs-up your favorites and settings of IE (or whatever browser you use) and your My Documents folder (in addition to Emai)!

    I'm using Express Assist for many years:
    http://ajsystems.com/expressassist/ea.html

    It's not free : 39,95 USD

    I like it a lot; support is very good.

    It does what Aaron Here described in above posting.

    PS: AJSystems has several other programs.

    Hi Aaron, I don't view what I am looking for as a limited program, but rather a specialized program. I want it to do a specific thing, not a lot of things. For instance, I regularly use Acronis TrueImage for full system backups, from which I can restore individual folders if need be. But I want a program that automatically backs up Outlook Express more frequently than I create TrueImage back ups.

    In addition, while restoring data through Genie Outlook Express Backup, it enables a user to preview to-be-restored data before restoring it. I also see that I can backup/restore all of my email messages, or just selected folders.

    So I suppose it's all in how one looks at it. You say limited, I say specialized. ;)

    I also use Acronis TI for full backup but I need the ability to take all the e-mail from a Windows XP Puter, Outlook Express with multiple Identities and write it to a DVD. Then I need the same program to import that data from the DVD to another Puter running Windows Vista sp1 32 bit and put it into Thunderbird. I don't think such an animal exists.
    Mailstore seems to be full of bugs or I am expecting
    to much from it.
