I just tried the free online antispyware scanner on the zone alarm site (http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/promotions/spywaredetector/index3.html) ; and it found "MS Media Player ID".

The scanner suggests deleting the following registry key:

    HKEY_USERS\.default\software\microsoft\mediaplayer\player\settings|client id

Is this safe to do? Will media player functionality be affected?

    Thanks.
