I don't know how I missed that. I am used to some other forums that have a separate Quick Reply button. Thanks.

    Hello WSFuser,

No problem as we are all learning and getting used to the layout of the new forum. You are most welcome...

Hmm, not as any forum option I can see. You'd have to set it on your mobile. (The manual Style selector at bottom left of page.) But, when I pulled out my iPod to add a screen shot to my last post... I had left it logged in and the manually selected style I used on it a couple days ago was still selected. So, I think it'll just stay as you set it when you pick it up again.

Ok I will do the same then.

Also if I may ask what was the motivation behind switching forum software? Also how do you decide on choosing XenForo (I've never heard of it prior to today)?

There are currently 3 things bothering me :thumbd: (I´m using Opera v11 and v12):

    -----------------------------
1 You can´t see page numbers of threads, until you hover your mouse on to a topic.

2 You can´t see smilies automatically, you have to click on the smilies button.

3 High CPU usage when typing a message, at least on old PC´s (what a joke).
    ------------------------------

Can this stuff be changed somehow?

The reason for the change is explained in the first post in this other thread:

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/forum-software-update-has-been-done.362302/

In addition to what's written there, a bit more about XenForo... The vBulletin product is dropping like a stone as far as their install / customer base goes. XenForo is one of the fastest growing forum packages at the same time. Add to that their commitment to a secure design, as well as a built-in mobile responsive design, and you have a lot of reasons to pick them.

That might be changable. I'll look at that later on.

A button turns them on for those that want them. Other people find smileys a little less serious than they like, so, they prefer them off. I think I'll leave that as is for now.

I have that too on my 2004 laptop (which is my only PC since my tower died a few weeks ago.). I ended up turning off rich-text because in some browsers, (not all I believe - someone commented on that above), the Javascript in that interprets things with every character you type. That's where the CPU load is going.

If you're using https://www.wilderssecurity.com, clicking on a http wilderssecurity.com link from a search engine will log you out immediately. Perhaps this is causing the issue in your case.

    Thank you.

BTW when I quote post with a url, the link automatically changes to use https://. I suppose this is part of the forum's secure design? It is rather annoying though as some sites such as Wilders will make Firefox show the "This Connection is Untrusted" page. See image:

I have to admit that after a few days it's as if vBulletin never existed....ok, maybe not so fast, but i'm getting used to it and are back using the default skin. Just thought i'd mention that after my first semi acidic posts about the new XenForo software. :)

Thanks for the old Vbulletin-like skin! The light blue is easier on the eyes than the white everywhere design - especially on a large monitor.

When you quote anyone's post, you get the content exactly as they entered it. The post of mine that you quoted had the link entered as https because I browse this forum using https. But, when you are reading any post on the forum, all wilderssecurity.com links will be prefixed with whichever access method you are currently using. If you are using http, then every local wilderssecurity.com link will show as http. If you login using https, then they will all change to https. The idea is to keep you always in whichever access method you are currently using, and not switch you expectedly from one to another.

    @ LowWaterMark

    Thanks for the feedback. :thumb:
Call me crazy, but it´s really starting to get on my nerves.

About smilies, they were always visible on the old forum, if people don´t want to use them, they don´t have to click on them?

Thanks about the tip, but turning of rich text will also kill all the features that I need, this is really ridiculous.
XenForo isn´t that cool after all.

Is it correct that the only way to turn off smilies is to disable rich text editor?
I somewhat enjoyed the old smilies, understated as they were... but these new ones are, well, stupid, for want of a better term.

I made them always visible, but, only in the vB3 style. They were always visible in vBulletin, so, this makes the style here even closer to the original. I'm leaving the default as it is since that's really a part of its overall design.

I'm also using Opera and my solutions for these are:
    1. .discussionListItem .itemPageNav {visibility: visible !important;}
    3. Disable javascript for wilders (but than you will loose ...).

    Hi SweX,

All Forum GUIs are a bit different, and just requires a bit of patience to learn them!

These differences always remind me when I was in school: Each year meant learning the requirements of a different teacher!

I guess my preconceived idea was that folks here on this forum would be pretty much tech-savvy. Good grief! I've never seen so much whining and complaining! It's like they forgot that they were once challenged by learning something new! Figuring out the new software was actually FUN for me!!

Yep, I have visited Xenforo forums before but never been a member on one, so it's the first time I get to play around with the settings and GUI's.

Haha but I didn't always get a new teacher each year, I could have the same for 2 sometimes even 3 years :D But I understand what you mean of course :thumb:

Also ditto - I'm suspecting there might be a generational thing going on. I'd like the forum to require a Facebook/Google login just to see the reaction!

    You are welcome, SweX.

Thanks, LowWaterMark. So it is much more userfriendly, I think. :)

All due respect (as I am certain all your comments were intended), "fun learning new forum software" sounds a bit like folks who aren't doing much else besides playing on their computers.
