    Hi Lindy !

    Welcome to Wilders !

Your machine is infected with one of variants of cool websearch. Click here and download the CWShredder. Unzip the file and then run it after closing all the window instances and IE windows. Now, Click on Fix button to fix the infections.

Important : We strongly recommend you install the patch, available from this MS security bulletin.

Reboot your machine and boot into normal mode.

Now, please move HijackThis.exe to a separate folder of its own, something like C:/hijackthis/hijackthis.exe. The program will make backups to the folder it's in. These easily get lost in a temporary folder.

Also, please clear your IE cache.

When all done, rescan your machine with hijackthis and post a fresh log please...

    With thanks !
    Newkid

    Hello Lindy !

I still can see that you are running Hijackthis from Temp folder. Please move it as directed earlier and clear your Temp folders contents(C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\).

Now, Please Download the latest version of Ad-Aware at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

After installing AAW, and before running the program, you NEED to FIRST update the reference file following these instructions.

    Now do the following:

    - Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweak > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

    - Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweak > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

    Press "Scan Now"

    - Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
    - Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
    - Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
    - Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives... It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Right-click in that pane and choose "select all" Now press "Next" again. It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot. That ought to get rid of most of your spyware.

Also, there may be the following entry in the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs list

    ClientMan/ 'mscman'.
    FavoriteMan/F1 or FavoriteMan/ZZ
    Twain-tech

Try selecting this and clicking 'Remove' if it is there.

When you've done all that, restart your computer, re-run Hijack This, and show us a fresh log. There will be more to do!

    With Thanks !
    Newkid !

    Hi lindyb28,

Before you start please unzip hijackthis.exe to a folder of it´s own. The program creates backups in the folder it is in. In a Temp folder they easily disappear.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497}_ - (no file)
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {707E6F76-9FFB-4920-A976-EA101271BC25} - C:\Program Files\TV Media\TvmBho.dll

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {447160CD-ECF5-4EA2-8A8A-1F70CA363F85} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msibkd.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RemHelp] remhelp.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [slmss] C:\Program Files\Common Files\slmss\slmss.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Mwsvm] C:\WINDOWS\mwsvm.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [TV Media] C:\Program Files\TV Media\Tvm.exe

O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'c:\windows\system32\lsp.dll' missing

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
    C:\Program Files\TV Media <= entire folder
    C:\WINDOWS\mwsvm.exe
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\slmss <= entire folder

    Regards,

    Pieter
