    Hi
Just switched on the comp and launched FF, and this is what ZA shows.

Description Firefox requested permission to access the internet.
    Rating High

    Type Repeat Program
    Program C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
    Source IP
    Destination IP 127.0.0.1:1027
    Direction Outgoing (connect)
    Action Taken Allowed (once)/Manual
    Count 1
    Source DNS
    Destination DNS Loopback

I don't think you meant block the loopback to FF did you ? So i expect you meant something else. Appreciate your explanation on what to block :thumb:

    Ok

Agreed, and i disabled ALL of them and relaunched to test what would happen, and it still happens. So it must be something else as i thought. Don't know what, but wish i did :(

Yes, I did! It's explained in the Wikipedia article I linked to.

Took another look at the wiki, and again i don't see any mention of it being a bad idea ?

Please explain why you think so, and suggest what you think is a better method.

Without loopback i would have thought the HOSTS file will be bypassed ?

Also loopback with IE6 doesn't produce the constant outbounds that FF does.

Hang on a sec... I use CCleaner - I can't work out from the thread above whether this solves the issue with Firefox or not?

P.S - really interesting thread by the way :)
