Linux Kubuntu 12.10. I don't have a telemetry box to tick, only the data box.
    social.enabled is set to false.

Has anyone figured out how to keep that bar "What do you want to Share" from popping up each time. Darn annoying.

If I knew how to get that popup, I could try to figure what disables it.

I can't tell you that. It's just there every time I start Firefox. PIA

The way I got rid of it was by running Firefox out of the sandbox until the "bar with the question" came up, afterward, I haven't seen it again.

Dido, the same trick works after you update add-on to remove the "release notes" or "thank you for updating" redirect that sometimes sticks.

From what I observe, this "new download experience" consists of there being no download box anymore to make you aware of the progress of the file. And VT Hash Check & Download Statusbar no longer work together either.

Keyscrambler 2.9.3 also no longer works with this version.

2 big thumbs down for me... I'm goin back to 19.0.2

luciddream, type about:config and search for browser.download.manager.showWhenStarting, make sure it's set to true.

    Reference: Download Manager preferences.

I tried that as well as "browser.download.manager.focusWhenStarting" but that doesn't give me the old download box (as it was called by LD). I love to get that box back. I played around with many of those settings yesterday trying to figure out how to make downloading as it used to be, got it close but not the old box.

You could try Download Statusbar :: Add-ons for Firefox The only thing I noted on the upgrade was the new Download button. At first I wondered where the heck it came from until it dawned on me it was part of Firefox. I simple "Customized" it away. :)

Yes, I got rid of that button too. the lights are kind of annoying. If I could get the old download window, I would be very happy. I just don't like downloads to be displayed in tabs, to make it worse, they open in separate tabs if you have more than one download going and dont close at the end of the download.

I was able to customize most of the changes but cant get the old download window/box back. A friend posted in another forum that changing "browser.download.useToolkitUI" to true would bring back the old window but that did not work for me in two computers. Not even with a new profile.:)

Bo, toggling browser.download.useToolkitUI to true (default is false) brings back the old download window in my Firefox 20.

If you're using Private Browsing, it could create a conflict.

Same here, works for me on 2 test machines. Could be the private browsing thing if it does not work, but I don't really use that feature. Nobody else uses my PCs.

No... you can't use that addon. That's my entire problem really. This update breaks that addon. That's really what I want to use. I just thought that if I could get the default FF download options back to formula again that it would make D-S work again too... but no dice. I've followed the advice in here... it just doesn't work. Thanks anyway.

Simply "customizing it away" makes the arrow go away. I did that too at first because I was like "WTH is that?". But doesn't change the experience or bring the old way back.

I think going back to 19.0.2 is my only option.

Reverting to Firefox ESR is better from a security POV. It may not contain the latest features/enhancements of the last few major releases, but at least it contains the very latest security fixes.

Toggling "browser.download.useToolkitUI" to true did the trick, once I changed in Options-Never remember history (Private browsing) to Remember history. Nice J R, thanks.

So, indeed, Private browsing does create a conflict.

Bo, had a feeling that Private Browsing was the culprit. Thanks for posting back!
