I went to a link on Facebook and saw it was shortened automatically by either Facebook or my browser, Chrome. Does anyone know which is responsible? I wasn't aware either was affiliated with bit.ly.

As far as I'm aware, Facebook allows URL shorteners, including bit.ly.

Yes, I have used url shorteners myself on facebook. I did not realize, though, that facebook automatically uses a url shortener on its own behalf. So I'm assuming there is some affiliation, commercial or otherwise, between facebook and bit.ly.

I thought Facebook used their own URL shortener, fb.me?

The tab contains the title of the page, so apparently the title of the page is a bit.ly url?

Facebook does not use any URL (Link shortening services) like bitly.
